Official Information, Exam Pattern, Syllabus, and Certification Guide for Law Graduates
Bar Council of India · Certificate of Practice (CoP)
The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is a national-level certification exam conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI) under the Advocates Act, 1961. It is mandatory for law graduates enrolled with any State Bar Council to qualify for a "Certificate of Practice" (CoP). Without this certification, an advocate is not permitted to practice law in Indian courts. AIBE assesses the advocate's analytical ability and basic understanding of law required to practice the profession.
